| Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon Titanium Weight Energy System Reinterprets the Heart of Timekeeping
Horology is an ancient discipline, an art of timekeeping developed over thousands of years of human experience and technological progress. After all that time, we have now reached a fairly perfect level of how to tell time using rotating hands and winding rotors. So it was natural for Hublot to abandon all traditional ideas about watches and create a new watch in the form of the MP-10 Tourbillon Energy System Titanium watch - frankly, it can be said that it is Hublot's most Hublot masterpiece.
This watch looks like part MB&F and part hip flask, which makes it difficult to start. So I want to start with its appearance and structure. It is a wide rectangle, measuring 54.1mm x 41.5mm, and is made of micro-blasted titanium. There is an oversized crown at 12 o'clock, which reminds me of a hip flask, especially the integrated rubber strap that extends under the case like a custom watch holder. At the center of the watch is a large sapphire crystal, creating a wide view for the unique display.
The display consists of a horizontally rotating cylindrical hour and minute display, with the top cylinder indicating the hours and the bottom cylinder indicating the minutes. Below this is another cylinder that indicates the power reserve, and below that is the seconds hand, which is not a cylinder but a tilted disc mounted on the top of the tourbillon cage. It's a pretty crazy layout, and watching it in action is like watching an MB&F or Jacob & Co. Bugatti sports car, presenting a busy scene.
In addition to the unique skeleton display layout, the MP-10 Tourbillon Energy System Titanium watch is also equipped with an innovative linear rotor winding system. Two rods are arranged in parallel on both sides of the central cylinder, and a pair of white gold rotors slide on them, protected by shock absorbers on both sides. When the rotors swing in any direction, they wind the watch in the same principle as a normal automatic rotor. Called HUB9013, the movement has a 48-hour power reserve, which is plenty considering the cylindrical display and tourbillon’s demand for energy.
Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon Energy System Titanium. Hublot watches have never been affordable watches, but that’s not the case with Richard Miller. However, I think its fascinating display, novel winding mechanism and unique case will be a hit with football players and celebrities, who will no doubt be seen wearing it in the coming weeks.
